Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a powerful"universal" antioxidant, which is active in all tissues. Alpha Lipoicacid may also promote healthy blood glucose by reducing glucosetolerance and decreasing insulin resistance. It may also restoreglucose availability in tissues such as the skeletal muscle. Whenvitamin C, vitamin E, or coenzyme Q10 neutralize a free radicals, theyare no longer active, but ALA may help recycle the inactive vitamin C,vitamin E and coenzyme Q10 back to active, protective antioxidants.
